Elec: Samsung will provide only the best OLED panels for the most expensive iPhones

Samsung will supply two types of OLED panels for the iPhone 14 smartphone series, The Elec has reported.

According to inside sources, Apple has agreed with Samsung to supply two types of panels for the displays of the new iPhone. The Korean company's Samsung Display division is one of the main suppliers of OLED components for Apple's smartphones. The sources made it clear that Samsung will help its U.S. partner save money by introducing different types of components.

According to reports, the base iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch LTPS panels, referred to as M11. The M12 designation corresponds to the best components, the LPTO front panels that will be used in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Therefore, cheaper phones will be left without the advanced OLED panels, which will only be available for the more expensive flagships. The South Korean computer giant will supply Apple with a total of 80 million components.

Experts note that Samsung's similar M2 panels will be used in the production of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable smartphones. The devices will be announced on August 10.

In late July, RBC journalists noted that some popular models of Samsung smartphones had disappeared from sale in some regions of Russia. The reason for the assortment problems is the lack of official deliveries by Samsung.
