This has never happened before, and now it is happening again. Another group of malware has been discovered on Google Play. These include adware Trojans, fake apps used by scammers, thieves of confidential information, and others. The total number of downloads of these apps has exceeded 10 million. Check them urgently if you have them.
Trojans are embedded in image editors, on-screen keyboards, system utilities, ringtones, home screen background modifiers and other applications.
Some of them try to gain permission to display advertising windows on top of other programs, while others try to get into the battery-saving feature's exception list. And to make it harder for users to spot the "intruders" later, Trojans hide their icons in the list of installed applications on the home screen or replace them with less conspicuous ones. For example, an icon called SIM Toolkit that, when selected, launches the SIM card system software of the same name instead of the original application.
Some of these apps can download and execute arbitrary code, as well as enroll users in paid mobile services without their knowledge. Some apps steal the data needed to compromise Facebook accounts. Once launched, they ask potential victims to log into their account and then load a standard Facebook login page. They then intercept the authentication data and transmit it to the attackers.
