Elon Musk no longer wants to buy Twitter. Twitter threatens to sue

Elon Musk intends to give up his takeover of Twitter and, according to documents prepared by his lawyers, the reason is that there are too many spam accounts on the service. This might not be a problem, but Musk has never been able to get full information on the status of the "junk" accounts. Twitter threatened legal action in response.

The number of spam accounts was supposed to be no more than 5% of the total number of registered users, but Twitter did not confirm this. Now Ilon Musk's lawyers believe that is a "material breach" of the terms of the agreement that should be overturned.

According to the New York Times, what is happening will almost certainly lead to another lengthy legal battle between Musk's representatives and Twitter's board of directors. When the purchase agreement was signed, there was talk of $44 billion plus a $1 billion fine if Ilon Musk refused to buy the service or the site itself. Twitter, for its part, is not particularly upbeat: its base is not growing, there have been layoffs at the company and there are no more buyers.

However, this will not stop Twitter: the company has already announced its intention to sue.
